Why Yoga?

I believe that yoga is for everyone. More relevant than ever as our lives become busier and more stressful the retreat to the mat serves to put us in contact with our true nature, to reconnect our mind and body to ultimately bring happiness and gratitude on a daily basis. Each time we should arrive on our mat with a fresh mind, fresh clarity and a fresh approach.
Yoga is about the physical practice; greater flexibility, greater strength and greater energy levels, however the full benefits are experienced when we accept it is about so much more. As we deepen our inward journey, we discover yoga is self-discovery, freedom, presence, awareness, self-acceptance, balance and joy. Being full in whatever posture we are doing so that we should be full in whatever we are doing in our lives. Breathing fully into each posture, surrendering to the breath, listening to the body not the ego with intelligence and ultimately calming the mind.
We all have a personal journey with yoga; but the true joy comes once we have cultivated the head, the body, the heart on our mats from taking that friendliness, that compassion, that grace, that joy into our everyday lives and radiating it to those around us.
"You have to create love and affection for your body, for what it can do for you. This love must radiate from
you to others” ~ B.K.S. Inyengar
